From Idea to Line

The birth of a character and story

01

Conceptual Development

Everything starts with an idea. The first stage where the character's soul, the story's theme, and the world's atmosphere are determined. The fundamental questions asked here: Who is this character? Why are they important? Which world do they belong to?

02

Narrative Foundations

I craft the character's backstory, motivations, and conflicts. Biography, personality traits, and relationships with other characters take shape at this stage. The text forms the backbone of the visual.

03

Sketch & Form Studies

The first lines on paper. I explore the character's visual identity through silhouette, proportions, and basic form studies. Usually, I find the most accurate expression through 10-20 different sketches.

04

Color & Atmosphere

Colors should reflect the character's spirit. The color palette selection must align with the story's tone. In this stage, visual depth is achieved by adding lighting, texture, and atmospheric details.

05

Final Render

The final stage where all details come together. The character comes alive with shading, highlights, and fine-tuning. At this point, the story and visual are in complete unity.

"A character is not just a sum of lines; it is the visual expression of every moment lived, every pain carried, and every hope held."
